G.A.'s All About the Badges

 

Girls in Action- Awarded when the GA can recite the GA pledge and has attended 75% of the meetings for two months.

 

     

Adopt a Grandparent - Adopt an elderly person at a local Assisted Living or Nursing Home facility, or a shut-in. Make at least 4 contacts with your "grandparent"; at least one should be a personal visit. This needs parent permission.

 

   

Annie Armstrong Easter Offering- Read a book on the life of Annie Armstrong and give a short report with one or more pictures to your GA class
or
Discover three ways the AAEO money is used to help missionaries do their work. Give a report to your GA class with pictures
or
Learn about the AAEO and perform a skit to promote the offering

 

 

Chevron - Place chevrons around badges as girls earn the same badges each year.

 

 

Christmas in August- participate in the Christmas in August Mission Action and study why we have Christmas in August.

 

 

  

Extra Miler- Awarded for girls who go above and beyond in GAs by taking projects seriously, ministering to others and/or working hard.

 

 

 

 

   

Family Missions- participate in a Family Missions Day group mission project with our GA group (leaders will organize)
or participate in FamilyFEST (with your family)

 

 

   

GA Badge- Awarded when the GA can recite the GA pledge and has attended 75% of the meetings for two months

 

 

 

 

GA Big Sister/Little Sister- For 5th graders only. GA will pair with a girl in the Kindergarten or 1st grade. Make at least 4 contacts during the year, such as a birthday card, Christmas card, a phone call or do something special for your little sister. Hopefully this will encourage the younger girl to be an active GA.

   

GA Camp- Attend an overnight GA camp.

 

   

GA Chef- Prepare food from a country we are currently studying and bring it to a GA meeting to share.

 

 

GA I Brought a Friend- This badge is for GAs who bring a friend to the GA meeting and that friend enrolls or becomes a regular attendee.

 

   

Go Forward Badge- GA can earn this badge by reciting the GA Motto, GA Pledge and GA Scripture Verses.

 

   

International Mission Study- Participate in the International Mission Study. This badge may be substituted with the emphasis country badge.

 

 

International Mission Study Country Badge- See above 

Learning Scripture- GA memorizes the required number of verses for her grade level
1st grade 5 verses
2nd grade 6 verses
3rd grade 7 verses
4th grade 8 verses
5th grade 9 verses

 

   

 

Live Action Project- GA must participate in at least half of our mission action projects including at least one "off-campus" activity

 

 

   

Lottie Moon Christmas Offering- Read a book on the life of Lottie Moon and give a short report with one or more pictures to your GA class
or
Discover three ways the LMCO money is used to help missionaries do their work. Give a report to the class with pictures.
or
Learn about the LMCO and perform a skit to promote the offering
or
Make a collage that tells about Lottie Moon's life.

 
Mentoring- GA is mentored by a member of FBC-WMU in a year long program or Older GAs partner with younger GAs for a mentoring program.

 

 

 

 
Ministry- Awarded for girls who participate in at least half of our Ministry projects.

 

 

 

Missions Camp- Older GAs who participate in the week long GA camp.

 

 

 

 

   

 

Missionary Pen Pal- GA must write and receive 4 emails or letters to missionaries. It can be 4 contacts to the same missionary or 4 different missionaries.

 

 

   

 

MK Friend- Make 4 contacts with a MK (same as Missionary Pen Pal) or Organize/participate in a program for local MKs.

 

 

 

 

North American Mission Study- Participate in the North American Mission Study.

 

 

 

 

 

   

Pray and Give- GA must participate in the annual Penny War with our RA friends.

 

 

   

Prayer Calendar- GAs must return 75% of the prayer calendars send home, signed by a parent.

 

 

 

 

 

Prayer Walking- Participate in a planned Prayer Walk 1) around our campus or 2) around our community or 3) a ‘virtual' prayer walk around the world

 

 

 

 

 

   

Project Help-

 

 

 

   

Pure Water, Pure Love- Learn about PWPL and give a short report to your class and
1) collect money to buy a water filter for a missionary or 2) promote the offering

 

 

Reading Club- GAs must read the required number (by grade) of books about missionaries or mission work. Parent must send a note on completion and GA will need to draw a picture or write a short paragraph about the book to share with her class.

Serving Others- Work on a Habitat for Humanity house or another large local or statewide mission project.

World Crafts- GAs must participate in a WorldCrafts event or lead an event at FBC-Garner.

 

 

World Hunger- Choose a country or state where hunger is a serious issue. Research that area and present what you learn to your GA class.

Participate in a Mission Action project to alleviate hunger locally and learn about World Hunger in GA class.
or
Learn about local hunger issues and how food banks operate. Help organize and participate in a food drive for a local fool pantry. 

 

WMU Badge- Learn about the WMU. How it started and what the organization does. Learn about the WMU at First Baptist Garner. What kinds of things do our WMU groups do? Give a brief report to your class.
